Sheltering Tree

My friend Kathe sent me a card that I think is wonderful.
Kathe wrote the nicest note and I am realizing how much a written note means.

We are on to another project.

Enlarging the laundry room... more when we are finished.

Finished

I finished updating my kitchen on a budget.
My son and I did it ourselves with a little help at the end from my husband. I really should say most of the work was done by my son, Recovering from the surgeries on my shoulders is taking longer then I thought it would.

Celebrate

The ladies group at my church is celebrating their 173rd year. We are having a dinner to celebrate, I made 144 invitations (I forgot to photograph them) for the dinner and I was asked to make a center for a table. The beehive is the symbol of the group.
I made a banner using the Apothecary Accents Framelits & Little Letters Thinlits

Not a card, but I did use So Saffron & Wisteria Wonder CS

Light Project

Over the next couple of months we (my son, myself and at time my husband) are working on projects that hopefully make our house more easily sold. We did a lot of work when we bought it 11 years ago but life/living side tracked us and things we planned on doing didn't get done.

My breakfast area ceiling fan was an inexpensive builders grade white and gold fan.

Since we had left over paint from doing these door/drawer handles.
We decided to make the fan match. We took it apart and since my son and I had never taken apart a ceiling fan before we took some picture along the way so that we could refer to them when putting it back together if needed.

Washing them came next.

Next we decided what we wanted oiled bronze and what we wanted red. It took a couple of coats of paints and sadly those photos were deleted.
When the paint was dried putting it together began.
My husband on the left my son on the right adding the fins to the fan.
 Looks good!
It works!
Looks so good! Better then what these photos can show.

So with the under $20 we spent to do the handles in the kitchen we were able to include the light in that amount.
I was looking at ceiling fans just in case it didn't work and the cost of the lights that most closely looked like the finished light were in the $200-300 dollar range,

The Wacky Watercooler March Madness Blog Hop!

We are hopping again and this time it is March Madness!  Basketball? Not always!! Just the madness this time of year brings, in some areas it is wishing for warmth and the end of snow, maybe it is just needing to slow down, the madness is different for everyone. My personal "madness" is spring clean up and those DYI projects that I am hoping with help as a selling appeal as we get our house ready to sell.

As usual, our Blog Hop runs in a circular fashion.  No matter where in the list of participants you begin, inevitably you'll wind up in the exact same place again if you keep going to the "next" blog.  It works the same way whether you conform to the usual forward movement through the blog posts or if you're a rebel and work your way through in reverse order.

If you hopped over from Linda's blog I am sure you found inspiration. If you are starting here, keep on hopping!

This time of year we are usually wishing for warmer winter, this year we are just wondering what happened to snow and worrying about the drought that will be hitting if we don't get a wet spring/summer. My trees are already blossoming almost a month early, I noticed a few gardens already planted as I was driving about town(gardens go in AFTER Mother's day!). So my first card is early spring.
Stamps: Sheltering Tree & Lots of Thanks
Paper: Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz & Calypso Coral CS
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake & Rose Coral Chalk
Misc: Dimensionals

For Fancy Folds I went simple, a sheet of 12" x 5 1/2" CS scored at 2", 4", 8" & 10"  cut at a diagonal 3" down on each side up to the 4" or 8" fold line depending on the side.
Stamps: Lovely Amazing You
Paper: Soft Sky CS, Watercolor Paper & Painted Blooms DSP
Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Rose Red, Lost Lagoon
Misc: Butterflies Thinlits, Tea Time Doilies, Itty Bitty & Bird Builder Punch, Glue Dots & Rhinestone Jewels

Stampin' UP! supplies Basic Black CS, Glue Sticks and Snail Runner.
My son recently returned from a church mission in Japan. He collects movie posters a standard movie poster (a one sheet) size is 27" x 40". He brought flyer size (7 1'8" x10 1/8")movie posters home that are in Japanese. We made a 27" x 40" collage of posters and then mounted 9 on Basic Black CS and mounted them on top of the collage.

Now it is time to hop on over to Jackie's, I'm sure you will find inspiration in her work.

Here is the sample I showed them( yes I CASEd myself).
The card I demonstrated.
And here are the different combinations that were made in class.

Current Project

Here is a non-paper crafting project that I have been working on.

My kitchen, bathroom & laundry room  have these builders grade handles on the cupboards and drawers, I have never liked them, I really kind of hate them,
There are 50 of them in the kitchen!
So after 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of oil rubbed bronze $ 2 coats of colonial red...

I think I like them!

Now it is on to taking apart my white and gold ceiling fan and and painting it the same colors.

Come back tomorrow and I'll have another card for you.
