Bring on the Cake

I am sure you have seen many cards with the DSP candles on them here is my version.
  • The card base is Midnight Muse,
  • I cut a piece of Old Olive CS using the Big Shot and the largest of the Apothecary Accents Framelits, I the stamped the phrase from Bring on the cake near the bottom using Stazon. I added it to the base.
  • I rolled tubes of DSP using every color(two of them twice) in the Polka Dot Parade pack, The wick is a piece of Bakers Twine, I added these to the card.
That is it pretty fast and easy and a fun way to add some dimension to a card.

Frosty Friends

I have a weakness for snowmen, mind you I hate snow and being cold but snowmen make me smile! I decided to try an unusual(for me anyway) color combo.

  • Card base is Crumb Cake with the Heartfelt image for Layered Labels heat embossed in Early Espresso(done on a diagonal).
  • I stamped the Snowmen from Frosty Friends (Holiday Catalog) with Stazon onto Watercolor Paper. I colored the image withe Regal Rose, Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede and Pumpkin Pie Markers and then with an Aqua Painter and Bashful Blue Ink I colored the ground and the shadows on the Snowmen.
  • I ran a piece of Regal Rose CS through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. and layered the image on it.
  • I sprayed Champagne Shimmer Paint Mist on Early Espresso CS and layered the image once more. then added it to the card front.
So for me at least, an unusual colored Snowman card.
I updated my Class Page and my For Sale Page- Check them out.

Serene Silhouettes

These were taken last night with my phone while we were driving to visit my daughter and son in law. I thought the evening sky was so pretty last night.
I am sure you didn't come to see the evening sky so here is a card that I recently made. I have been working on cards that will be in my Card Buffet Tuesdays. This is one of them.
The card is a CASE of this card.

  • The card base is Whisper White,
  • I colored the stamp from Serene Silhouettes with markers, the first time with Primrose Petals and Lucky Limeade and stamped. The again with Raspberry Ripple and Old Olive, and stamped it slightly above the first stamping. The third time I just colored the grasses with Lucky Limeade and stamped to fill in.
  • I used a Sponge Dauber and Old Olive to add more color to the base.
  • I stamped the phrase from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Old Olive.
  • I added a butterfly from the  Beautiful Butterflies Sizzlit in Raspberry Ripple.

Using It Up...

A masculine card is often difficult for me to do. This might qualify.

  • Card base River Rock with a DSP Stack front in River Rock as well.
  • From my scraps I found squares and rectangles from DSP Stacks and CS that went well together. I sponged the edges with the corresponding ink. Then layered them on the card front.
  • On a piece of Whisper White CS I stamped the phrase from Delightful Dozen in Versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I sponged Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke, and River Rock(same colors as the papers) over the words to bring them out. I then punched it out with the2 1/2" Circle Punch, then I popped it up in the center with Dimensionals.
This was a good way to use up some scraps!

Frightening Feline

I ordered so much more from the Holiday Catalog then I ever have when it was the Holiday Mini. This is my favorite of the Halloween sets this year.

  • The Card Base is Cajun Craze.
  • I made banner streamer from the Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP and added them to the card base.
  • On a piece of Tangerine Tango from the Brights  DSP Stack I heat embossed the image from Frightening Feline with Black Embossing Powder. I added the smallest of the pearls colored black as eyes.  I cut it out with a Window Frame Collection Framelit and layered it on a piece of Basic Black cut the next size up.
  • I popped the image up with Dimensionals on the card front.
So my first Halloween card of the year. Have you done any Halloween stamping yet?

Bootiful Occasions

This was a stamp set I was thinking of buying, my friend Darrah's swap pushed into doing it. I used a lot of product from the new Holiday Catalog to make this card.
  • The card base in Naturals White CS layered with Real Red CS.
  • I ran the new Core'dinations CS through the Big Shot with the new Woodgrain Embossing Folder. I lightly sanded the grain and then added it to the front.
  • On a piece of Naturals White CS I stamped the Cowboy boot from Bootiful Occasions in Versamark and heat embossed with Early Espresso Embossing Powder. I then cut it out with the Window Frame Collection Framelits die, cutting a Real Red CS the next size up as well.
  • I used the Color Spritzer Tool and a Real Red and Midnight Muse Marker to add color to the boot (I need more practice, the blue needed a light mist). I layered it on the Real Red and the popped it up on the card front with Dimensionals.
So there you have it my first use of Bootiful Occasions.

One in a Million

So I decided to play with the new butterfly punch- I like it so much more then the one that it replaced.

  • The card base is Naturals White I used the Designer Frames Folder to emboss a frame for the phrase.
  • The phrase is from One in a Million I inked it with Midnight Muse.
  • I used the Elegant Butterfly Punch to punch butterflies from Midnight Muse, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. I folded their wings away from their bodies slightly and attached them in a row down the left side.
A simple card, but I am just warming back up ;)

Two by Two

I don't know if you have the same problem as me, but if I have been unable to stamp for awhile I find it hard to do. So my go to is Watercoloring. Here is what I made.

  • Card base is So Saffron with the front embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder.
  • The image was stamped on Watercolor Paper with Stazon and colored with Ink and an Aqua Painter. The image was then cut out with the Label Framelit.
  • I used the next size larger Label Framelit to cut a piece of Midnight Muse CS, I then embossed it with the Argyle Embossing Folder.
I think it makes a fun baby card, what do you think?

I am almost back ;)

My summer at Maple Dell Scout Camp has ended, all in all it was an interesting summer.  My sons both worked there for the beginning of the summer but only my oldest worked there the full summer.  I ran the Trading Post at the camp, I worked with a fun staff this year and enjoyed being with them. Our Council assessed us an amount that they wanted us to bring in as profit, we passed that amount by $20,000(I tried to keep my prices low, it was fun to hear "Wow this is even cheaper then I can get it in town" and we heard that often) so we made them happy.

My older son Breathing Fire at a Staff Talent Show.

I did inform the camp Director that this was the last year, I will not be returning to staff next year.  It was hard to be away from stamping for so long!

I'll be back to share cards later.
