Birthday Block

So at this time I have very little ribbon that is current or will be current on July 1. So for this card I improvised.

  • I colored the Black striped Grosgrain Ribbon with a sponge and Melon Mambo ink.
  • Instead of a knot in the ribbon I used a Rhinestone brad to hold it closed.
  • I stamped the stamp in Melon Mambo and then with the Basic Black Marker I colored two lines of words on the stamp, I then stamped on Whisper White.
  • I Matted this on Basic Black, then Melon Mambo, then Basic Black, to this I added the Ribbon.
  • I ran a piece of Whisper White through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dot folder, mounted it on a Melon Mambo card front and then added the matted phrase.

I like how this one turned out.

Tuxedo Heart- Wedding/failure

When I first came up with the idea of a tuxedo heart I never thought it would become so popular, in fact my daughters roommate had to remind me to post it. ( http://kath-allthatscrap.blogspot.com/2010/01/wedding-no-stamping-2.html )

Here is one that doesn't quite work ;). I used the new color *Marina Mist for the base as well as the Top Note, and while I like this color, paired with white it looks washed out. I love this phrase, it is from a new level 3 Hostess set called Occasional Quotes. The Whisper White card front and heart were run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot folder, the Basic Black heart I used the Square Lattice. I sprayed both pieces of Whisper White with Shimmer Paint Spray.

So here's to one that doesn't quite make it! I'll try again because I still like the Tuxedo Heart cards and it is wedding season again.

*edited. . . I just relized today(6-29-10) that I used Baja Breeze not Marina Mist, I feel so much better about the card now (not that I like it, but I don't dislike Marina Mist)

Because I Care

Because Stampin' Up cares they gave all the demonstrators this stamp set, pretty cool huh?
It is a level 1 stamp set from the catalog that begins on July 1st, so you can get this in a couple of weeks.

The card base is Perfect Plum with a front of Kraft/Crumb Cake, I stamped the K/CC with the hydrangea from the set. I colored the stamp with Old Olive, Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant then stamped and re stamped the image. I wrapped a piece of 5/8" Old Olive ribbon around the front, before adhering the front to the base. I stamped the phrase in old Olive on K/CC and punched it out with the Wide Oval punch, layered with dimensionals on a tag from the sizzlit set Lots of Tag.

Tell me what you think, and have a wonderful day!

Sense of Time

Sometimes a photo just doesn't do a card justice! The card base is Kraft/Crumb Cake, matting, ink and cogs are Chocolate Chip. I random stamped the clock and gears on the card front, sponged the edges, then sprayed it with gold smooch spray, I punched my cogs and sprayed them as well (twice, I wanted more gold). After stamping the phrase I sprayed this as well then distressed the edges. The large cog in the upper corner is on dimensionals. On the inside I stamped the gears once, but did not add spray.

I finally bought this set and now I am stumped for ideas for cards. . . does that ever happen to you? I guess I'll need to google the set and see what others have done with this, if you have this set leave a comment and I'll check out what you have done with this set.

My son who made the Lots of Bots- Steampunk card on May 6ths, posts wants to remake the card using this set.

Another 3 for the Ronald McDonald House

Here are three more pages to send to RMH.
Page#1 were 3 un-named babies (well I'm sure they have names, just no information was sent with them, only about half the pictures had any information) my daughter found the quote that we added to the page and the punch art was one that I had found blog hopping, the image stuck in my head, but I hadn't marked the blog, so if this idea was yours give a shout out and I will add your name.
Page#2 The flowers are from the die "Blossom Party" and the sizzlit "Little Leaves", this page, all the paper and embellishments on this page are Stampin' UP.
Page#3 Cute twins! One of my daughters did this page, the tag behind the picture pulls out and has all the families contact information on it. This paper is from my pre-Stampin' Up days.
We promised to do 100 children, so far we have done 143, with only about 45 more to go, I won't show all the pages, but I may post more at a later date.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

3 More Pages for the Ronald McDonald House

Here are three more of the scrapbook pages, the post it notes have the information from the backs of the pictures, we have a neighbor that has amazing writing skills, she is transferring all the information to the pages for us.
Top page twin sisters: So Saffron, Ballet Blue, and Certainly Celery. The peas are punch art that I CASEd from Andrea Walford's blog.
Middle page: Micky and Minnie are on the little girls dress, so once again Punch Art- these I came up with by myself.
Bottom Page: This paper was retired designer paper from a couple of years ago, It was a Progression page sample, if you look at the page you will see that the little boy is on a 6" x 6" page, that page was than mounted on a 8 1/2" x 11" page, and last it was placed on a 12" x 12" page, I used this in a scrap booking class that covered all 3 sizes.
Life has been a little crazy around here, but I am trying to catch up and will try to do better posting, so please stick with me.

Two of my favorite stamp sets are retiring. . .

Bloomin' Beautiful and Spring Song are both retiring, there are at least 8 posts on this blog using those stamp sets, boy am I going to miss these! Most of the retiring paper and accessories are already gone, fortunately stamps sets are made through out the month of June and are not "as supplies last" like the accessory list is.
Both of these cards use Watercolor Paper, Watercolor Wonder Crayons and Very Vanilla Card Stock.
It has been busy so far this summer, and my blog has suffered, we have spent hours working on my sons eagle project, I will post more pictures soon, from that project. With the retiring catalog I have to create all new cards, both for my sample board and for my Open Studio Tuesdays. I am working on more punch art classes as well as some summer classes. . . so even though my blog has been slow, I have been busy and being busy means soon more blog entries.
I am revamping my stamping business, so you may see some changes to my blog soon.

Eagle Project for Ronald McDonald House

Are you wondering where I've been and what I've been doing? I received my preview order for the new catalog that starts July 1st, I've even made a couple of cards, but mostly I have been helping one of my sons.
My son has started his Eagle Project as part of earning the Eagle Rank in Scouting. He is doing his project for the Ronald McDonald House in Las Vegas. He told them he would scrapbook 100 of the children that they have helped, it is turning out that he will be doing 175 of the children. He is a little over 2/3 of the way done with the project.
He was sent a stack of pictures to sort, we were a little surprised at how little information there was with the photos, some of the photos had short notes with them, some just a name and date, some just a name, some just a date, and about 1/3 had no information at all. Here is the photos being sorted and one of the finished pages. I'll post more photos tomorrow.
